Gibraltar Festival for Young Musicians 2016

Closing date for entries to GFYM is Friday 22nd January 2016.

There are less than two weeks for children and music teachers to send in their entries for the annual ‘Gibraltar Festival for Young Musicians’ which takes place in association with the British and International Federation of Festivals for Music, Dance and Speech.  Musicians aged 18 or under are strongly encouraged to participate in this year’s 11th Festival organised by the Gibraltar Academy of Music and Performing Arts. This event, which has gone from strength to strength with each successive year includes piano, instrumental and vocal categories in solo, duet and ensemble formats and can be competitive or non-competitive.  This year there is also an exciting new category of Musical Theatre, which includes acting, singing, dancing and choreographic skills.

Every year, over a thousand children take part, either individually or as part of their school choirs or ensembles.  The feedback they receive from experienced UK music adjudicators is always very positive and the children thoroughly enjoy themselves whilst gaining experience which augurs well for the future.

GAMPA is very grateful to the many sponsors who continually support the Festival, some of whom have been there from the very beginning in 2005.  Every year, an increasing number of trophies, shields and bursaries are awarded to winners of various classes, which encourage performers to give their best, and this is very apparent as the standard has been improving steadily over the years.

Find us on Facebook ‘Gibraltar Festival for Young Musicians’ where we will be posting updates and information closer to the festival date.  Please visit our website, download the Syllabus and Entry Form and participate in this 11th Festival for Young Musicians!  See you there!

Remember, the closing date for entries to GFYM is Friday 22nd January 2016.
