Adam Orfila BMus PGDip

Guitar Teacher

Born in Gibraltar in 1986, Adam began his guitar studies privately at the age of six under the tutelage of Michael Clarence. During the next 11 years, Adam had been asked to perform at church events including weddings and at local school concerts in front of the country's dignitaries.
Following the completion of the ABRSM graded exams 1-7, he spent a year under the professorship of the head of the La Linea Conservatoire, Ignacio Abalos, where he learnt advanced technique and musicality, at the end of which he attained his grade 8.
In 2005, Adam pursued his undergraduate degree with a degree in Music at Canterbury Christ Church University, with further tuition by Jeff Alexander and more concerts, both as part of the University and outside.
During Easter of 2007, Adam attended a weekend master-class course in La Linea, Andalucia, Spain by one of Spain's most prominent guitarist, Marcos Socios.
Adam graduated with a Bachelor of Music in 2008 and spent the next three years concentrating on his solo guitar work both within schools (in the UK and Gibraltar), while performing at local venues including hotels and restaurants.
In the autumn of 2011, Adam was accepted for a Scholarship from the Gibraltar Government to study at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama with maestro John Mills.
Adam graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in July 2013 with a Postgraduate Diploma. Throughout this time he gained valuable experience through a selection of master-classes by internationally renowned guitarists and tutors: Heiki Matlik; Edoardo Catemario; Julian Byzantine, David Miller, Natalia Lipnitksaya, Xuefei Yang and Steve Gibbs and has also been given the opportunity to perform concerts at the Royal Welsh College, Cardiff Museum, Cardiff and Swansea Guitar Societies and Nazareth House, Cardiff.
